Band Warknife Title: Dream of Desolation
Country: Italian
Year: 2009
Production: Self-produced
is not easy for me to be reviewing the debut of Salento Warknife , because I am very attached to this band because of the great friendship with them But I will try to be as neutral as possible.
After we pass this necessary introduction to sketching a brief history of this group, active since 2006 with 2 founding Simone (rhythm guitar) and Caesar (drums). After a period of apprenticeship for a couple of years and numerous line-up finally come to a stable that sees beyond the two founders, Fabrizio on lead guitar, Mark Daniel on vocals and bass. The time is therefore ripe to conceive the first album, titled Dream of Desolation , which besides being one of the 8 tracks is the old name of the band, replaced by the moniker Warknife .
Dream of Desolation is the result of the merger of two souls Warknife , the first on the old line up, devoted to extolling the Bay Area Thrash and clear reminder Testament, while the second is the current mold Death in the middle between Monstrosity and Blood Red Throne .
intro of War introduces us to the first part of this album, Into the Infernal Confusion , violent punch in the stomach of the listener, decisive and direct as any good opening track, with a shock stun Thrash, interrupted only by intervals in part reminiscent of the syncopated Machine Head of Burn My Eyes . The next
When All Burn proceeds along the same lines of previous evidence here in Mark, with his voice that draws the structure of the piece, at times powerful and fast, and sometimes more melodic and far-reaching, with pleasing deadlifts , fits perfectly enhanced by the guitar solo parts is low. The title track
Dream of Desolation is one of the most representative pieces of the group: excellent job of riffing on a piece that in addition to being easily catchy features several tempo changes that make it a fairly comprehensive piece. The only flaw the fact that he was "speeded up" than the live version, a choice that penalizes disk at certain points in the song making it less clear and more confusing.
Vermin however, this song focuses on a systematic basis and heavy guitars, here lord it with determination, supported by the carpet of double kick drum, the piece is developed and powerful, with soft inserts that accentuate the contrast with the roughness of the structure. The beautiful
Opening riff (reminiscent of the Slayer South of Heaven ) introduces A Dead Memories, song after great initial part falls a bit 'in tone, could not maintain the same level, except when is taken over the above riff. The solo is mercilessly out of context. The next
New Crusade, introduced by a brief phrase Nixon (my dear Warknife but c'azzecca Nixon with a text like the part in question, about religious fanaticism ????) shows the hockey shores more typically Thrash. The piece is among the most violent of the album (along all'opener) attack dry, persistently high rate, which marks a continuous banging drums, song definitely passed with flying colors.
Damned Silence is the song most dated of this Dream of Desolation , runs off very well and fairly pleasant, to be reported here the bass part of Daniel that has a large showcase to demonstrate its role in value added to the group.
closes the album March of the Souls Sentenced , simple and catchy song, which just follows the rhythm of a march and that is easily in my head. In conclusion, this
Dream of Desolation is a debut album that will surely attract more than good if a substantial support, I can only wish the group ambitious goals, because the capacity and reliability to achieve them are all right.
