neurasthenia (Ita) - THRASH Possessed

Band: neurasthenia
Title: Possessed
Nationality: Italian
Year: 2007
Production: UK-Division Records

Among the more interesting bands panorama of the Italian thrash we can find the Bolognese neurasthenia, which thanks to intensive live performances (which also brought them to play with bands such as Municipal Waste , Forbidden and Fueled by Fire ) have carved out a good slice of fame. The
neurasthenia was officially founded in 2004 by Neil (rhythm guitar and vocals) and Lehmann (bass) who after the demise of previous band named Animalator decide to get back into the game with this exciting new project.
The style is stark old-school thrash, with no compromises or concessions to modern variety, supported by an excellent stage presence of the quartet on stage is even more convincing than on disc, especially on the charismatic frontman Neil, totally at ease on stage, and also well supported by Lehmann and Phil.
The album marks the debut Possessed (release year 2007) of 8-track hard fucking thrash, with references to the old school Bay Area matrix.
The average level is high enough, since all 8 pieces remain on good standard, without then record important voltage drops, this means that Possessed is thus more than satisfying listening.
difficult to quote a song rather than another, there would be such an eye-catching In Loving of the grooveggiante Assassination, or the opener Screaming Corpse (from light aftertaste Metallica) but in my opinion the most compelling is the anthem neurasthenia, a real thrash anthem to sing out loud:

" Fly inside my eyes
Thrash metal is my life
Today and tomorrow
Fly inside my eyes
thrash metal never dies
Today and Tomorrow "

certainly a text that does not shine for depth or originality (in fact, this flaw is evident not only in this piece) but at least it is catchy and direct. Beyond this, however, the neurasthenia can be very proud of the work, although at times they are a bit 'derivative (limit but it is characteristic of thrash). If you like the album will not miss it live, because that is where the quartet draws on all his power.
Recommended for those who want to breathe a breath of thrash sound genuine and effective. The lovers of various technical innovation or may stay away rather well.
