After the positive review of "Underground'n Roll" back to talk about Lucca Devastator, this time with an interview with the founder and drummer of the band
Luca Luca tell us about this "Underground n 'roll", but the role of the drummer quit the band and fell in those of a boy who does not know the Devastator and is located in front of this hard feelings ... that listening to?
It's the feeling of nausea and vomit mixed with horror, when added to an impulse to smash the stereo in the wall ... Apart from jokes, is a question hard enough to deal with, and frankly I do not know what to say. I spent so much time am I behind the disc (writing pieces, testing, arrangements, recordings, etc.) that now I know it by heart, and say that I was a bit too 'broke ass eheheh ... So just can not come to my mind What I would think from listening to "novice". I know, to experience the festive atmosphere that I'm called, plus the passion and care with which it was played ...
3 studio albums, two live albums, a tour throughout Italy and the satisfaction of doing to support Assassin's, you certainly can not say that there split the ass, and yet claimed the 'pride of being underground, "you're fond of this size or that the great lights of the reflectors do not do it for you? And do you think is right to be more successful compromise?
Well yes I can confirm that since there exist the ass so we split for good ... I then, dealing with all the promotional part I know something for sure. We claim our "being underground, for the simple reason that what we have achieved so far (you and I can swear on anything) we obtained using our own forces. No type of booking and promotional agency has helped us, no knowledge. And do not depend on no one is extraordinary in terms of writing songs. If you notice, our three albums are completely different from each other, that's because I always write what we want without fear of losing fans or opportunities to play. When we came out with our first album "Thrash 'n' War" in 2005, we attracted a strong attention from the Italian thrashers. Wishing we could compromise by writing the second album 100% thrash, and maybe our success would be increased. But instead we just wrote what I went there and the result you can hear on "Alcoholic Invasion." With this I say that often have more success there is a tradeoff a little licking 'ass to the fans disappointed by the album and previous albums.
I have not had the pleasure of seeing the work on stage, but I imagine that your music can make the best right there, thanks to irony and sympathy that you send, is there any particular anecdote fun memories attached to one of your live?
eheheh would love to write a book. During our live shows has happened a bit 'of everything, including spills, vomit, fights and so on and so forth. A nice thing to remember happened during the festival "Titans Of Thrash" back in 2004. Rob went on stage drunk and during the intro of the first piece because dell'headbanging unbridled lost consciousness from dizzy and fainted on stage in front of everyone. Before leaving to play good 10 minutes passed. At first the fear was so great, but then every time we ripensadoci scompisciamo to laugh! Another funny thing happened during our last date in Milan on June 20. During the song "Alcoholic Invasion" Rich spear always beer cans on the public at will. Only because that is a damn bria last took in the face a poor girl who was under the stage. It has not done anything to chance, but it was enormously fun to watch ehehe!
One of the funniest episodes of "Underground'n 'roll" is the song "I Hate Cover Bands," which also finds me very well, vents a little' on this subject illustrate your point of view .
Our view is simply based on the fact that in this country shit roll tribute bands and more that groups with songs. Locals call more and more bands that play other stuff, paying a lot of money in the evening. While groups like ours, and here I feel the solidarity of the other thousands of Italian underground bands, to be able to put us close a date a month! And who do you care about the place? Who takes away from a chance to make you feel alive? A group of puppets rigged by celebrities that ape the music already written and already played years ago. Take out the balls and their own ideas, it is easier to play music already written by people who at least had the balls to write it!
The alcohol is undoubtedly Devastator a major theme, which of you is the most rotten drunkard? Give us a few words about your alcohol drinking buddies.
So: I have stopped drinking spirits in 2007, health problems and why alcohol was now becoming a dangerous addiction for me, so I decided to first warnings to close. However, a good beer every now and then I always like to drink it. Rob himself has given up hard liquor but remains a devoted fan of beer. Finally, there is rich who has never ceased to swell like a balloon. So the drunk most rotten of us three is rich, no doubt. Those who know him will tell you: Rich will never say no to alcohol, the alcohol will be rather who will say no to Rich EHE!
"Cemetery Beach" is in my opinion the best part of the album, thanks to its catchy, I know that when you ask this question to a musician is like asking a mother to choose between her children but .. What is your favorite song "Underground'n 'roll and why?
do not have a favorite song in particular, say that the songs of the Underground 'n' Roll "I have more fun to play live are" Cemetery Beach "because it's too funny," Here We Go "for its speed and "Hypocrisy" because it is a very complete piece, with parts fast and slow parts, and especially because when we were in the three I sing in parts. Ultimately choose their own "Hypocrisy" as a favorite to listen to that song to play live. Then a piece worthy of note because it is dedicated to our old singer (Luchino) who sent us in the ass and then made us go around speaking ill as shit behind.
a "Cemetery Beach" then I got to see a beautiful video, who is the genius who gave birth? I guess then that the "making of" was hilarious, right?
The story of the video was designed by us and Devastator Mylo, a great friend of ours who also edited and directed and edited the video. The video was shot in 5 hours, changes of location and makeup included. I'm really happy with the way makes the final result. Makes it perfectly the idea of \u200b\u200bhow we Devastator we never want to take ourselves too seriously! I confirm that the making of the movie was fantastic. 5 hours of continuous laughter!
I called the album a cauldron where you can find thrash, punk, hardcore, stoner, but mostly rock 'n' roll. Considering that each album is different from the previous Devastator what can we expect for the future? We can reassure your fans that you will not involve experiments on dance / emo / pop? Currently
we are writing new material, we have six finished pieces that will go on our next album, we want to release in 2010. The next album will be different from its predecessor, but fans can rest easy, because until now the new stuff is very fast and extremely pissed off like never before! Never insert stuff piles in our music! Modern Dance ever, maybe something dance 70s, stuff to Abba and Bee Gees maybe eheehe that are extraordinary!
Go to a more general question: how do you see now the Italian underground metal scene and not? There are bands of value that you deserve to other venues? What is the
band that you'd even forged papers to play together?
As I say always, the Italian underground scene is very valuable and full of names that split the ass, the problem is that nobody wants to bet on to it right now. We have a wrong mentality here in Italy, we prefer to focus on the reunion EHE! The band are very much value they deserve, I will not list them all here. A band which I love to play? Three, Bulldozer, Motorhead and Lindsay Lohan!
Since 2001 your Violent Overture (early embryos Devastator) of water has passed under the bridge ... To sum up eight years later as the budget? You have remorse or regret? And what are the ambitions and goals that aim?
The budget after eight years is more than positive. Considering all the menate that there were (two changes of singer, labels That have deceived us, several other quarrels) I can be more than satisfied with our work. In eight years we have brought out three albums, two live demos and a promo in the studio. There are people over 15 years of existence has made us less! I have no remorse and no regrets, live day to day as usual, I have no illusions about anything more. How would that Devastator ambition to become a band loved by everyone, not necessarily known at high levels, but heard by all sorts of people (from the rocker, the metalhead from punkettone). Made me feel because it means that people would understand how we understand music, with no rules, no fixed patterns and above all without limits.
Thank you for this nice interview, Luke (which by the way will be the first of our webzine!) I leave to you the burden of closing the interview with something "Made by Devastator"!
