The new association - whose symbol is a stylized leaf that inscribes the acronym LEAF (Leaf in English) - will continue the path already taken in the long battle to defend the legality of thousands of families living in 18 communities served by this area Optimal Territorial; in this fight is intended to assist the public good of water, which contrasts the recent decision on the privatization of water resources of the Berlusconi government.
Speakers included the assembly and participated in preliminary discussions along the Hon. John Burtone, Hon. Nino Di Guardo and Provincial Councillor Anthony Rizzo, who have given their approval and their full willingness to cooperate in the initiatives he wants to pursue this issue of the Democratic Party in Catania.
These are their conclusions: "The PDs have to work on such urgent issues which touch upon every citizen. An association which has already acquired in specific skills and experience, can only give best of itself in the development of operational projects for presentation to the institutions with which the association will be confronted in order to correct the errors of the Sicilian policy that has failed on every front in the ramshackle attempt to break out the emergency waste and even try to impede the privatization of water resources. And this is the concrete example of the party that we want: a party that operates as part of the base. "Today's meeting, consists of 29 founding members, elected seven members of the Board of Directors, consisting of: Salvo Nicosia (PD Mascalucia ), Chairman; Jose Calabro (coordinator Misterbianco PD), Vice President, Angela Saeli (vice coordinator Mascalucia PD), Secretary. The directors are Maria Sciuto (PD Gravina coordinator) Anthony Toscano (PD Pedara), Giovanni D'Antoni (Etnei Young Democrats) and the former Provincial Councilor Salvatore Roccuzzo. Will soon be appointed the members of the Scientific, Technical and legal operational arm of the Association, within which predict authoritative presence.
